The Fumin – Vallée d'Aoste DOC from Maison D&D is a characterful red wine that embodies the power and elegance of the indigenous Fumin grape. This rare variety, grown exclusively in the Valle d'Aosta, finds its ideal expression on the region's steep, sunny slopes. The vines are maintained according to the Guyot system, and the grapes are harvested in late October, when they have reached their full aromatic potential.
After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and macerated on the skins with daily reassembly at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for several months in French oak barrels, which imparts depth, complexity, and a refined spice. In the glass, it reveals a deep purple-red color with violet highlights. The aroma is intense and spicy, with notes of black pepper, ripe fruit, and a hint of wood. On the palate, it is full and warm, with velvety tannins and an elegant softness that gives the wine a harmonious, long finish.
