It started with a bottle we couldn’t get

In 2020, founders Casper and Gijs travelled through Piedmont, in north-west Italy. There they tasted a wine they fell in love with. Back home, that bottle was nowhere to be found: the winemaker was too small for Dutch importers, and the bureaucracy between farmer and glass was impenetrable.

Then came COVID. Restaurants closed, trade fairs were cancelled, and it was precisely the small, independent winemakers who lost their sales channels. Fantastic wine stayed in the cellars, while wine lovers in the Netherlands couldn’t get to it. That mix of love and frustration gave birth to ONWINE.
