This Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG is a powerful, unfiltered red wine with a deep, impenetrable purple-red character. The grapes come from 35- to 45-year-old vines located on a southwest-facing slope with chalky soils. Harvested by hand during the second and third weeks of September, the grapes are then carefully destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, the temperature rises to 27-28°C to enhance color and structure. Maceration lasts 8 to 12 days with daily reassembly to optimize the extraction of aromas and tannins.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in a combination of barriques and tonneaux, after which it is blended and refined for at least another six months in bottle. This results in a wine with a layered and complex character. The aroma reveals notes of ripe cherries, red berries, spices, and vanilla. The taste reflects these aromas with a perfect balance of freshness, soft tannins, and an elegant, lingering finish.
With an alcohol content of at least 14%, this Barbera d'Asti Superiore is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as roasted or braised red meat and aged cheeses. Served at 18-20°C, its full-bodied and structured character is best expressed. Thanks to its refined aging, this wine has a cellaring potential of 5 to 15 years, during which it will continue to develop and gain even more depth.
