Weingut Habersack sits in Weiden am See, on the shore of Lake Neusiedl in Austria's Burgenland. A fourth-generation family estate where the lake brings mild winters and long, warm summers: ideal for full-bodied reds and crisp whites alike.
Karin Habersack has run the estate since 2020. She brought international experience and a degree in viticulture and oenology back home, and breathed new life into the family business. Her approach leaves no room for compromise: no insecticides or herbicides, natural cover between the rows, and every vineyard tended entirely by hand, from winter pruning to bottling. In the cellar she works deliberately gently, so each wine keeps its own character.
In this masterclass you taste the red side of Austria, with Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Pinot Noir, alongside fresh Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay. And then there is the rohdiamant range: idiosyncratic orange wines from Gewürztraminer and Müller Thurgau you will rarely find in a glass elsewhere. Karin explains in person why Burgenland is so much more than Grüner Veltliner and what the lake does to her wines. Curious already? Browse the wines of Weingut Habersack.
