We're making the wine world fair and transparent
Straight from the winemaker to your glass. No middlemen, no hidden margins, with the maker's story included. That's the new wine world we're building.
Why we exist
It started with a bottle we couldn't get
In 2020, founders Casper and Gijs travelled through Piedmont in northwest Italy. They tasted a wine they fell in love with. Back home, that bottle was nowhere to be found: the winemaker was too small for import and the bureaucracy between grower and glass was impenetrable.
Then came covid. Restaurants closed, trade fairs vanished, and it was precisely the small, characterful winemakers who lost their sales. Fantastic wine sat in the cellars while we couldn't get to it. Out of that mix of love and frustration, ONWINE was born. The platform went live in February 2021.

Old wine world
The bulk of what you pay goes to the importer. The winemaker is forced into a margin that's too low, while the middleman profits handsomely.
Middlemen mainly import wines they earn a lot on. Often mass production, and not that wonderful bottle you discovered on holiday.
The winemaker depends entirely on the importer. Too risky, and it leaves too little to grow on.
New wine world
At ONWINE the winemaker sets the price and keeps considerably more. And you don't pay a cent too much for exceptional wine.
An open marketplace for every winemaker, big or small. No growth limits, but transparency and a direct bond between maker and drinker.
The maker builds their own business, stays independent and keeps control of their future. You connect directly with the person behind the bottle.

Become a co-owner of ONWINE
Our mission is in its growth phase, and we finance it with growth capital from people who understand and share our mission. That keeps us independent, without a big investor calling the shots. Together we've already raised over €750,000 with more than 300 co-owners. The final investment round is running now, and you can become a co-owner from €500.
