Agnelli Viassone's Langhe Riesling DOC is a unique and promising white wine, sourced from a vineyard Daniele planted in 2021. While Riesling Renano is a rare choice for the Langhe, this decision was deliberate: it allowed the adjacent forest, essential for their bee population, to be preserved. The vineyard is situated on a northeast-facing slope, ideal for preserving the freshness and vibrancy of the wine.
The grapes are harvested by hand in perforated crates to ensure quality. They then undergo crioceration in the press for about five hours, partially with whole bunches, followed by a gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats for about twenty days, and the wine is then aged for a further four months in steel to fully preserve its freshness.
With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this Langhe Riesling offers a wine with lovely acidity, character, and a lively structure. It's delicious to drink young, but also possesses the potential to age for several more years in the cellar, further deepening its complexity. A unique expression of the Langhe region, where conservation and craftsmanship go hand in hand.
