Hof Breitenstein's Dornfelder Trocken 2018 from the Nahe region is a characterful red wine with a deep colour and rich fruit expression. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red colour with dark reflections. Dornfelder is known for its full-bodied fruit and soft structure, and this wine shows that character in an elegant way.
The nose reveals aromas of ripe cherries, blackcurrants and plums, complemented by subtle spicy notes. The wine combines ripe dark fruit with a soft structure, keeping it powerful but accessible at the same time. Thanks to aging, the wine has developed additional depth and harmony.
On the palate, the wine is round and supple with soft tannins and a full, fruity palate. The dark fruit is nicely supported by a slight spiciness and an elegant structure. The finish is soft and harmonious, making this Dornfelder an excellent match for hearty dishes and cosy dinners.
