Product description
Nera's Sforzato, of a ruby red colour that turns garnet with ageing. Intense and complex aroma, from a concentration of dried grapes.
Vines: produced only from Nebbiolo grapes, locally called "Chiavennasca", carefully selected and dried for about 3 months to ensure an alcoholic graduation of more than 14.5%. Features: The drying of the grapes results in lower acidity and higher alcohol levels, and its smoothness sets Sforzato apart from all other wines of Valtellina. It has an intense, alcoholic and persistent aroma with a violet background. This wine must be aged and refined for at least 20 months, including 12 in wooden barrels. Productivity: ~60 q/ha with the best grapes being selected for drying. Vineyards: Southern exposure to the sun in the production areas of Valtellina Superiore Grumello and Valgella in the municipalities of Sondrio, Montagna in Valtellina and Teglio at an altitude between 400 and 500 metres above sea level. Soil type: Sandy soil, permeable, moderately deep. Vinification: Dried grapes, vinified until the end of December, fermentation "a cappello sommerso" for 15-20 days at a controlled temperature. Aging: 18 months in medium-capacity oak barrels, then the wine rests in stainless steel tanks and refines in bottle for at least 8 months. Ageing potential: If kept in an appropriate place, it can age for more than 10 years.
