The The Queen 2022 is an elegant and powerful Spätburgunder from the Schweigener Sonnenberg vineyard in France, where limestone-rich soils with a very thin top layer create a mineral-driven and refined character. The vines are over 35 years old and give concentrated, aromatic grapes with plenty of depth. As with all the house's wines, the grapes were harvested entirely by hand and rigorously selected so that only perfectly ripe fruit found its way to the cellar.
The wine fermented for 21 days in open vats, after which it was gently pressed in the traditional Korbpresse and transferred to oak barrels via drop pressure. There, The Queen was allowed to age for no less than 20 months, completely spontaneously and without any additives. It was bottled unaged so that its natural texture, aromatic complexity and authentic expression were fully preserved. The result is a vegan German Qualitätswein trocken with 13% alcohol, 0.7 g/l residual sweetness and 5.4 g/l acidity, brilliantly reflecting the purity of its origins.
In the glass, The Queen 2022 presents itself refined yet intense, with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rosehip and subtle spiciness that intertwine elegantly with the mineral undertones of the limestone. On the palate, the wine is silky and precise, with soft tannins and lively acidity that offer tension as well as elegance. The long, harmonious finish makes it particularly suitable with dishes such as duck, game dishes, veal, grilled vegetables or creamy mushroom risotto. Serve at 15-18 °C to fully show off its full aroma palette and stylish structure.
