Product description
The Marsala Superiore Secco DOC is a full-bodied dessert wine made from Grillo, Catarratto and a little Insolia that is great as an aperitif but, of course, also goes with desserts.
This wine has the classification of vino liquoroso with denominazione d'origine controllata and comes from the province of Trapani, with vineyards in Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. The area has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters, limited rainfall and a very warm and well-ventilated summer. The vineyards are located a few metres above sea level and have medium-density, slightly clayey soils. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand and this wine is produced with a combination of Catarratto, Grillo and Insolia grapes. Vinification includes maceration of the grapes and fortification with aged wine alcohol, aged for at least 2 years in oak barrels. Further ageing takes place in 50- and 20-hectolitre oak barrels for more than 12 months. With an alcohol content of 17% vol, the wine shows an intense amber colour. The aroma is of ripe fruit, with distinctive hints of cherries, plums and figs. The taste is sweet, warm and harmonious, with a subtle aftertaste of ageing wine. This wine is excellent as an aperitif and perfect with chocolate desserts, pastries and dried fruits. It is recommended to serve this wine in a dessert glass at a temperature between 12°C and 14°C. For optimal preservation, the wine should be kept at a constant temperature of 16°C, with controlled light conditions.
The wine should be stored at a constant temperature of 16°C, with controlled light conditions.
