Les 2 Croix is an elegant and characterful red wine made from 100% Cabernet Franc, from a carefully selected vineyard (La Garde) in the Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame appellation. The grapes come from 30-year-old vines growing on loamy-limestone clay soils. Thanks to gentle vinification in vats and nine-month maturation in 400-litre oak barrels, the wine develops a harmonious balance of fruit, structure and refinement.
The wine has a deep cherry red colour with purple reflections and shows an intense and layered aromatic profile in the nose. Ripe aromas of strawberry, raspberry and wild blackberry are beautifully supported by a spicy base with hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. As the wine opens up, it reveals more and more finesse and complexity. On the palate, Les 2 Croix is lively and supple, with rounded tannins providing a silky texture. Red and black fruits dominate the palate, refined with spicy notes and a nice minerality that accompanies the long finish.
Already very pleasant to drink now, this wine can easily age for 5 to 7 years, during which it will gain depth and aromatic richness. Les 2 Croix is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 16 to 17°C, to show off its fruity freshness and subtle wood ageing beautifully. Perfect with dishes such as grilled meats, stews or mature cheeses - a real treat for lovers of refined Loire wines.
