The La Font del Mosquit 2023 is a refined white wine from the heart of Priorat, where nature and terroir come together in a unique and vibrant whole. Sourced from several vineyards around Torroja del Priorat, this wine grows on complex soils of slate, clay-limestone and alluvial deposits. Old Macabeu vines, some up to 100 years old, form the base and give the wine impressive depth and character.
In the cellar, work is done with precision to preserve the pure character of the grapes. The old Macabeu undergoes a short skin soaking, while younger Macabeu and white Garnacha are pressed directly. Fermentation is spontaneous in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing in innovative polyethylene eggs, which adds texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit. This method results in a wine that is both modern and true to its origins.
In the glass, the wine shows itself subtle and elegant, with aromas of white citrus, anise and a mineral touch reminiscent of the characteristic slate soils. On the palate, it is full and soft, with nice tension thanks to the fresh acids. Bright citrus and floral notes add vibrancy, while the structure remains round and generous. A wine that effortlessly combines finesse and power.
