Velluto is Barbera in its most seductive form: soft, deep and enveloping, as the name suggests. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected in early October, followed by a gentle vinification in stainless steel. Regular, gentle remontages are used during fermentation to best extract colour, aroma and structure, while maintaining freshness - an essential characteristic of Barbera.
In the glass, Velluto shows an intense ruby red colour with vibrant purple reflections, betraying the wine's concentration and depth. The aromatic profile is rich and layered: ripe cherries and plums form the core, complemented by floral notes of violets, spicy accents and subtle hints of cocoa, liquorice and a hint of vanilla.
On the palate, the wine is round and supple, with a distinctive freshness that provides balance and elegance. The structure is full and velvety, with ripe tannins supporting the whole without being overpowering. The finish is long, harmonious and refined, with lingering notes of ripe fruit and slight spiciness. An accessible yet characterful Barbera that is both instantly charming and gastronomically useful.
