The Il Picchio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a characterful red wine that beautifully reflects the strength and authenticity of the Montepulciano grape. Although the grape is often confused with the Tuscan wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, it has an identity all its own. This wine shows why Montepulciano has been loved for generations: a combination of ripe fruit, soft power and pleasing accessibility. In the glass, the wine presents itself with a deep ruby red colour. The bouquet is characterised by intense aromas of ripe cherries, blackcurrants and subtle earthy nuances.
