Product description
Pratalia in Anfora is the amphora version of the Vermentino of the same name and reveals a completely different side to the same grape variety. Whilst the classic Pratalia excels in its directness and freshness, the amphora version offers depth, complexity and warmth. Both wines share their origins on the same fossilised seabed in Narni, but the journey to the glass is radically different.
Following the same careful harvest at dawn and maceration on the skins at 8 degrees, the grapes ferment and mature for a full year in a cocciopesto amphora. This terracotta amphora, mixed with limestone fragments, deliberately differs from the classic clay amphora: it creates a gentle micro-oxidation similar to that of wood, but without the aromatic oak notes. In the glass, Pratalia in Anfora is an intense straw-yellow, almost golden in colour and slightly hazy. The nose is complex and mineral: golden apple, lemon, flint, saffron and iodine. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and enveloping, warm yet mineral, juicy due to the maceration period and with a slight almond note in the long finish.
Pairs well with seafood, freshwater fish, raw meat products, vegetarian tarts and white meat products. Excellent as an aperitif. Serve at 10–12°C.
