Product description
Coscia di Ninfa, literally ‘nymph’s thigh’, is perhaps the most poetic name in the Cantina Santo Iolo collection. In the 18th and 19th centuries, this was the name given to a colour by painters – precisely that pale, delicate shade of pink that also characterises the wine. It is also the name of one of the most beautiful historic rose varieties, a tree that still grows in the estate’s garden and features on the label, designed by Livia Ducoli.
Made from Alicante and Malbec, the red grapes are left on the skins for just a few hours, just long enough to partially extract colour and aromatics. The wine then ferments further like a white wine, at a controlled temperature in stainless steel. In the glass, Coscia di Ninfa displays a delicate, barely perceptible pink hue. The nose is fresh and lively: roses, wild strawberries and pomegranate. On the palate, the wine is fresh and juicy, with a striking minerality from the marine soil and a great sense of freshness on the palate.
Delicious served chilled as an aperitif. Pairs excellently with light fish dishes, vegetable dishes and moderately complex dishes such as pasta with tomato sauce and white meats. The ideal pairing? Pizza. Serve at 12°C.
