The Anssèma Nizza DOCG from Cascina Giovinale is a powerful and characterful Barbera that comes from a 1960s historic vineyard in the heart of Nizza Monferrato. The old vines, planted on calcareous soils with sandy influences and a favourable southwest exposure, produce grapes of exceptional quality. This wine embodies the unique character of the Nizza DOCG appellation, where Barbera reaches its most prestigious expression.
The grapes are harvested at full ripeness and undergo a traditional vinification with destemming and a skin soaking of about 20 days. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures between 28 and 30°C, followed by full malolactic fermentation and maturation in large wooden barrels. In the glass, Anssèma shows an intense ruby red colour. The nose is rich in ripe red fruit, complemented by subtle vanilla notes that create a harmonious and inviting bouquet. On the palate, the wine presents itself full and powerful, with a fine structure, lively acidity and a pleasantly spicy finish.
This Nizza DOCG is an excellent companion to tasty starters, red meat, game dishes and mature cheeses. Thanks to its rich structure and balanced character, it offers both immediate drinking pleasure and nice storage potential.
