Bricco della Guardia is an elegant expression of Pinot Nero from the hills around Tortona, where altitude and chalky clay soils provide finesse and tension. The grapes are harvested by hand from a vineyard around 300 metres above sea level and carefully processed. Gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel are followed by a 10-month ageing in French oak tonneaux, complemented by six months of bottle ageing, which gives the wine its refined structure and aromatic depth.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby red colour with slight garnet reflections on aging. The bouquet is elegant and layered, with ripe cherries and raspberries as a base, complemented by floral notes of violets, subtle spices and a light balsamic touch. Further complexity emerges in nuances of cocoa, coffee and a hint of leather.
On the palate, the wine is harmonious and refined, with silky tannins and fresh acidity supporting the slim but expressive body. The finish is long and refined, with delicate spiciness and light toasted notes. A Pinot Nero that combines balance and elegance with lovely ageing potential.
