Friulano is the grape variety par excellence of Friuli. Present in the region for centuries, it is still regarded as the most authentic and representative white wine of this landscape. The vineyard at Ronchi di Manzano is the oldest on the entire estate, situated just 200 metres from the cellar, with the first vines planted in the 1960s. You can taste that age in every glass.
After harvesting and destemming, the grapes undergo overnight cryomaceration at 0°C, after which the wine matures for six months in large oak casks, which lend it its roundness and body. Bottling is followed by a further two months’ rest. In the glass, it is straw-yellow with green highlights. The nose is intense, with wild flowers and ripe fruit. On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied and smooth, with notes of sweet almond, Abate pear, yellow apple, fresh herbs and a delicate mineral undertone from the ponca.
Perfect with San Daniele ham, eggs, asparagus, herb omelettes and asparagus soups. Serve at 10–12°C.
