Gewurztraminer Schenkenberg Sélection de Grains Nobles 2005 is an exceptional and extremely rare dessert wine, coming from a great vintage and made according to the highest quality level of Alsace: SGN (Sélection de Grains Nobles), comparable to Trockenbeerenauslese. In the glass, the wine shows an intense golden yellow colour with silky viscosity and thick tears, a first impression of the enormous concentration and richness this wine possesses.

The nose is deep, lush and refined, with an impressive spectrum of aromas of overripe yellow fruit such as peach, mirabel, reine-claude and apricot, complemented by exotic notes of mango and lychee and a pronounced honey-sweet layering. Everything is perfectly blended, without becoming unwieldy, and testifies to extremely ripe grapes harvested with precision and elegance. On the palate, the wine is pulpy and juicy, with a soft, velvety opulence that slowly unfolds and fully engages the senses.

This SGN is a wine to drink on its own, as a meditation wine or as a luxurious finish to a meal. Served between 8 and 10 degrees, it pairs beautifully with fruit desserts such as tarts of apple, apricot, pineapple, quince or pear, but it needs no accompaniment to impress. With a storage potential of more than 25 years, this is a wine that defies time and only gains complexity.
