Caballo Español Gold Edition 2021 from Bodega Sierra Almagrera is a powerful and expressive red wine from the rugged landscape of Almería. Sourced from vineyards at 350 metres altitude where extreme temperature variations and Mediterranean influences converge, this wine reflects a unique terroir of sun, sea and minerality. The bottle features a horse made of real gold leaf, visually underlining the exclusivity and character of this cuvée.
The grapes Syrah, Tempranillo and Malbec are harvested by hand and carefully processed without mechanical intervention. Fermentation takes place in small, temperature-controlled tanks, after which the wine matures for 25 months in French oak barrels and then at least three years in bottle. This long ageing process gives the wine its depth and complexity.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep cherry red colour. The nose opens with aromas of ripe red fruit and wild strawberry, complemented by spicy notes of liquorice, thyme and lavender. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful with fleshy character, balsamic accents and a long saline-mineral finish.
