The Polvaro Nero Red Blend D.O.C. Venezia is Tenuta Polvaro's flagship red, a powerful and characterful blend composed of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Malbec. The vineyards are located in the historic Lison Classico zone on well-draining clay-limestone soils, sheltered by the Dolomites and refreshed by the breeze from the Adriatic Sea. Limited yields produce grapes of exceptional concentration and ripeness.
After a skin maceration of 16 to 20 days, the wine matures for 12 months in French and American oak barriques, followed by 24 months on stainless steel. This results in an intense ruby red wine with violet reflections, a complex bouquet of plum, blackberry, cocoa, black pepper and coffee, and subtle balsamic hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with well-integrated tannins and a long, harmonious finish where wood and freshness balance each other perfectly.
An excellent choice with mixed grilled meats, stews, game ragù, hearty pasta dishes such as lasagne or tagliatele al ragù, and mature cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino.
