Product description
La Vieja Zorra 2022 Selección Especial 'La Genuina' is the estate’s flagship wine, made from grapes grown in four very old vineyards on either side of the River Alagón, on granite soils that lend finesse and slate soils that contribute the mineral character. The yield never exceeds 3,500 kilos per hectare.
Following manual selection on the sorting table, destemming and gentle crushing, a 36-hour cold pre-fermentation maceration takes place. The spontaneous, extended alcoholic fermentation on the wine’s own yeasts at a maximum of 23°C promotes the extraction of polyphenols. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, followed by a double ageing process: first 12 months in 225-litre French oak barrels, then a further three months in new ‘rebollo’ (Quercus pyrenaica) barrels.
Bright cherry red with light violet hues. On the nose, it is fruity on the attack, with notes of creamy oak, ripe black fruit, mountain grass, vanilla, dairy, toast and delicate cocoa. On the palate, the wine is tannic, structured, silky-smooth and pleasant, with a long and persistent finish. Fresh and elegant.
