The "Sforzato Le Anfore" by Marcel Zanolari comes from the fascinating Valtellina region in Sondrio province, from Bianzone and Villa di Tirano. This red wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, grown in a vineyard since 2001. With 5940 m² and 5000 plants per hectare, it captures the strength of this mountain area. The yield of about 500 grams per vine highlights its quality and bold taste.
The process is rooted in craft and starts with appassimento: the grapes are dried in special rooms (fruttaio), losing 25-35% of their weight, which makes the flavor deep. The wine is made in steel tanks with a cold phase of a few days and fermented with natural yeasts. Then it ages for 36 months in clay amphorae with lime and quartz sand, giving it a mineral touch. Unfiltered and pure, it comes in 75 cl bottles. Serve at 17-18 °C, opened a few hours before; it keeps for 2-10 years.
The "Sforzato Le Anfore" tastes spicy and mineral, with berry jam and cherries – rich yet fresh and juicy. It’s ideal with venison salmì, roe deer with red berries, or hearty braised dishes (brasati). Every sip reflects Marcel Zanolari’s dedication and Valtellina’s soul, a treat for fans of deep, natural wines.
