Loulou Merlou Rosé is a French natural wine with a distinctive character, made from 60% Merlot, 20% Grenache de Saignée and 20% Grenache Blanc de Noir. The grapes come from old vines that are gradually transitioning to organic cultivation and grow on sandy-clay soils. With a modest yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare in the 2022 vintage, this rosé reflects the passion and craftsmanship of two young winemakers who let the terroir speak for itself.
Fermentation takes place naturally, without additional additives. Most of the wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks, while a smaller portion is aged in oak barrels. At bottling, the winemakers once again let nature take its course: the wine is neither fined nor filtered, and only a minimal amount of sulphur dioxide (SO₂) is added. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, Loulou Merlou Rosé displays a vibrant, expressive colour thanks to its high proportion of Merlot, while retaining its light and refreshing character.
On the nose, spicy and toasted notes mingle with delicate aromas of small red berries. On the palate, the rosé is rounded and smooth, with light tannins that give it a slightly fuller, more vinous character. These distinctive qualities make Loulou Merlou Rosé an excellent choice for summer dining. It pairs beautifully with light salads, grilled fish and flavourful seafood, making it an ideal companion for relaxed meals and sunny occasions.
