Product description
The Marsala Superiore Dolce DOC is a dessert wine made from Grillo and Catarratto that is best drunk with desserts and particularly spicy cheeses.
This wine, classified as vino liquoroso with denominazione d'origine controllata, comes from the province of Trapani, with vineyards in Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. The area has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters, limited rainfall and a very warm and well-ventilated summer. The vineyards are located at a low level above sea level and have medium-density soils consisting mainly of sandy and slightly clayey components. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand and this wine is made from a combination of Grillo and Catarratto grapes. Winemaking involves fermentation at a temperature of 18°C to 20°C, interrupted by the addition of aged wine alcohol aged in oak barrels for at least five years. After this phase, the wine matures for more than four years in Slavonian oak barrels of 80 and 50 hectolitres. With an alcohol content of 18% vol, the wine has a deep amber colour. The aroma is ethereal with subtle vanilla notes. The taste is sweet, warm, full and lingering. This wine makes an excellent match with pastries, desserts with ricotta or pastry cream and spicy hard cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is between 10°C and 12°C in a dessert glass. For optimal storage, the wine should be stored at a constant temperature of 16°C, with controlled light conditions, keeping the bottles horizontally.
