Tenuta Pescarina's Merlot Colline Pescaresi IGT is an elegant and expressive red wine that draws its strength from the hills around Spoltore. The vines grow on chalky clay soil with gravel, on carefully selected slopes where the grapes ripen optimally. The manual harvest is followed by a traditional vinification in wooden barrels, where the grapes remain on the skins for 20 to 25 days. The wine then ages for 12 months in five tonneaux of French oak, followed by a further four months in bottle, developing depth and refinement.
In the glass, the Merlot shows intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose opens with aromas of wild berries, which merge elegantly with earthy notes of humus and undergrowth. On the palate, the wine is full and velvety, with soft and refined tannins that make for a harmonious and aromatic finish.
This Merlot is an excellent companion to grilled red meat, stews and game. Its full and elegant character also comes into its own with mature cheeses. Serve it at 18 °C to fully experience its rich complexity.
