Cantina Pisoni's Pinot Nero is a characterful expression of one of the world's noblest grape varieties, brought to life in the unique terroir of the Valle dei Laghi. This wine originates in the hilly vineyards of San Siro, where the chalky soils and microclimate ensure ideal ripening. Thanks to decades of dedication by Marco and Stefano Pisoni, from selecting the best clones to ageing in carefully chosen barriques, this Pinot Nero delivers a refined, elegant style that stays true to the Trentino terroir and does not try to imitate Burgundy.
The wine consists entirely of Pinot Nero and is aged for no less than 24 months in barriques, followed by 12 months of bottle aging. This lengthy process results in a deep ruby colour with garnet reflections. In the nose, it presents itself silky smooth, with aromas of cherries and wild berries, complemented by a subtle wood touch. On the palate, it shows up dry and intense, with a fine hint of vanilla and a lingering finish that reveals structure and complexity.
Pisoni's Pinot Nero is an excellent accompaniment to gourmet dishes. It comes out beautifully with mushrooms such as porcini and truffle, and is the ideal partner for white meat, poultry or game of the finer variety. Winner of the 2009 national Pinot Nero competition, this wine is an ode to elegance, craftsmanship and Trentino's extraordinary terroir.
