The 2020 vintage of this Tuscan wine is a special blend of 70% Sangiovese, complemented by 30% Trebbiano and Malvasia nera. This wine comes from the picturesque San Miniato region in Tuscany and is characterized by a lively ruby red color. The grapes for this wine grow on a sandstone soil rich in Pliocehne fossil formations, with a high pH and well-integrated clay. This terroir provides a unique flavor profile with a fresh acidity and firm body.
The grapes are harvested during the first two weeks of September, when they reach optimal ripeness. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled cement vats with 20 days of maceration on the skins. This process adds depth to the flavor and a strong aroma. After fermentation, the wine matures for six months in glass-lined cement vats, followed by an additional four months in the bottle. This aging process gives the wine a well-balanced structure, with a pleasant complexity.
The aroma of this wine is rich and intense, with notes of violets and ripe dark cherries. The flavor is rounded, with a firm body, lively acidity, and a long-lasting finish. This wine pairs perfectly with first courses, white meats, young cheeses, smooth charcuterie, and fish dishes cooked in red wine. Store the bottle on its side in a cool place (below 20Ā°C) and uncork at least one hour before serving for the best tasting experience.
