This Dark Chocolate Reserve 2023 from Weingut Bietighöfer is a powerful and layered red cuvée that fully lives up to its name. The wine is composed of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Spätburgunder and matured on barrique, providing depth, structure and a distinct aromatic profile. This is a wine that does not whisper, but convinces with intensity and elegance.
On the nose, it opens rich and complex, with aromas of cassis, ripe cherries and plums, followed by distinct notes of cocoa and dark chocolate. Behind this, layers of cedar, smoke, vanilla and spicy accents such as pepper and bay leaf unfold, complemented by a fresh hint of mint and violets. The wood is clearly present, but nicely integrated into the fruit.
