Who it's for
For home, for your business, or both
Buying wine in bulk isn't just for businesses. Many people who email us about it are buying for themselves, or together with a few others. Both are fine, and the route is the same.
Private
Fill your cellar in one go
You've found a wine you never want to be without, you're building a cellar, or you're buying together with a wine club or a group of friends. Then you don't order six bottles but six cases, or more.
Buying wine in bulk works without a company too, and there's no minimum to reach. Tell us what you're looking for and how much, and we'll work out the price.
Business
Wholesale wine for your business
A restaurant securing a house wine for the whole year, a caterer with a season ahead, a shop that wants a batch, or a company that needs a large quantity.
You order on account and receive a proper invoice. Mainly looking for advice on your list? Have a look at wine for restaurants and hotels.
What you choose from
Bulk wine from 2,500 wines by almost 300 makers
You choose from more than 2,500 wines by almost 300 winemakers who make their own wine, often in runs of a few hundred to a few thousand bottles. From white, red and rosé to sparkling. The vast majority work organically, biodynamically or naturally, so there's plenty of natural wine among them.
A pallet always comes from one winemaker. Even with a large order you're still buying directly from the maker: the pallet is put together at his place and goes from his yard to your address. That means you don't have to take 600 bottles of the same wine, because you can easily combine different wines from that same winemaker. White, red and rosé from one house can stand side by side on the pallet.
A full pallet holds 600 bottles: 50 cases of twelve or 100 cases of six, usually ten cases per layer and five layers high. A euro pallet measures 80 by 120 centimetres and weighs around 750 kilos when full. Case size and bottle shape vary per winemaker, so treat this as a guideline rather than an exact sum.
Is the wine you're looking for not listed? We can usually still get it. We're not tied to a fixed range, so name the winemaker and we'll find out if it's possible.
Practical
How a bulk order works
Buying wine in bulk takes four steps with us, from request to pallet at your door. Most of the work is on our side.
1 · You tell us
A wine, a style, or simply a budget and a quantity. Any of the three is enough to start.
2 · We work it out
Within a few working days, a price per bottle and a total price, with transport and excise already included.
3 · You taste first
We send samples, or you taste in our shop in Utrecht or Amsterdam. We really recommend it.
4 · We deliver
The pallet travels from the winemaker to the address you give us. Businesses order on account.
Frequently asked questions
What others asked us about pallet sales
How many cases of wine fit on a pallet? ▾
A full pallet takes 50 cases of twelve bottles, or 100 cases of six. Both come to 600 bottles. In practice there are usually ten cases per layer and five layers stacked. A euro pallet measures 80 by 120 centimetres, a block pallet 100 by 120, which fits a little more. Case size and bottle shape vary per winemaker, so treat it as a guideline rather than an exact sum.
Do I have to take a whole pallet? ▾
No. The page is called pallet sale because that's the largest size, but anything smaller works just as well. Half a pallet, ten cases, or a few cases of the same wine. The bigger the order, the cheaper transport works out per bottle, but there's no threshold you have to reach.
Can I do this as a private buyer? ▾
Yes. Buying wine in bulk works without a company too, and you don't need to show any registration. Many of our bulk orders come from people building a cellar or buying together with a wine club or a group of friends. The price and the route are the same as for businesses.
Do I get a discount if I order more? ▾
We don't work with a discount table, because that suggests there was slack in the price on small orders. What does happen: with a larger quantity, transport and handling get cheaper per bottle, and we pass that on. The winemaker gets the same fair price at any quantity. We work out what it comes to for you per request.
Can I put wines from different winemakers on one pallet? ▾
No, a pallet always comes from one winemaker. That's because you're buying directly from the maker even with a pallet: it's put together at his place and goes from his yard to your address, with no stop at a warehouse. Different wines from that same winemaker are fine, so you don't need 600 bottles of the same wine.
How long until the wine arrives? ▾
That depends on where the wine comes from and whether the maker has it in stock. Allow a few weeks for a batch that still needs collecting. If you have a fixed date, tell us straight away and we'll check if it's feasible before you commit to anything.
Can I taste first? ▾
Yes, and with a larger quantity we really recommend it. We send samples or you taste in our shop in Utrecht or Amsterdam. Have a look at our wine tastings too if you want a broader impression in one go.
Who handles transport and excise? ▾
We do. Transport, insurance, excise and all the paperwork sit with us, and it's all in the price you get. You don't have to declare anything or pay anything upfront. Nothing is added afterwards.
