Product description
In the Piedmontese dialect, ‘pistin’ means precise or meticulous. It is a word that suits craftspeople who take their trade seriously and leave nothing to chance. And it is exactly the name Agnelli Viassone has chosen for this blend of three Piedmontese grape varieties: 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Barbera, and 10% Dolcetto. Not arbitrarily combined, but carefully assembled so that each of the three grapes speaks at its best.
Nebbiolo brings austerity and complexity, the backbone of the wine. Barbera adds freshness and lively acidity. Dolcetto contributes a crisp, direct fruitiness that makes the wine approachable without making it shallow. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in perforated crates. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine ages for five months in concrete vessels, a maturation method that keeps the fruity characteristics of the grapes vivid and intact, free from wood influence. Three further months of bottle ageing follow for an additional smoothness on the finish.
In the glass it shows a lively ruby red. The nose combines red fruit with the characteristic complexity of Nebbiolo and the fresh, direct fruitiness of Barbera and Dolcetto. On the palate it is fresh, youthful, and yet substantial, with fine balance and long ageing potential. Already excellent to drink young, alongside filled pasta, red meat, or more elaborate main courses.
