'Montania' Pigato DOC Riviera Ligure di Ponente is an elegant white wine made from 100% Pigato grapes grown on hillsides above 500 metres in western Liguria. The vineyards benefit from a pronounced temperature difference between day and night, creating a remarkably rich spectrum of aromas in the wine.
Vinification takes place using the white method, without skin contact, which brings out the full freshness and purity of the grape variety. After ageing, the wine colours from straw yellow to a warm golden yellow hue. In the glass, 'Montania' shows up dry, with good structure and a pleasant, long finish.
This Pigato is a perfect accompaniment to fish dishes, seafood as well as dishes from Ligurian cuisine in which vegetables and aromatic herbs play the main role. The name 'Pigato' refers to the typical dark dots "pighe" that appear on the grapes when fully ripened. Serve 'Montania' at 12 to 15 degrees to fully experience its refined character.
