Product description
Re di Gès comes from the hills of Riolo Terme in Emilia-Romagna, where southeastern slopes, a mild microclimate and the special gypsum-rich soil of the Vena del Gesso ensure optimal ripening and character. The Sangiovese vineyards, with an average age of 10 years, produce grapes with excellent balance through careful pruning and low yields. The grapes are harvested by hand around 20 September, in small crates to preserve their quality.
After harvesting, the grapes undergo a skin soaking for about a week, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine then ages for six months on steel and goes through malolactic fermentation, developing a softer structure and round mouthfeel. After three months of bottle rest, Re di Gès is released on the market, retaining its lively fruit character and elegant fraicheur.
Re di Gès stands out for its brilliant ruby colour and an aroma that is immediately inviting: notes of violets, ripe red fruit and a subtle herbal freshness. On the palate, the wine is lively and refined, with supple tannins and an elegant structure that lingers for a long time. This Sangiovese pairs perfectly with red meat, game, aged and hard cheeses or traditional cured meats from the region.
Wine purchased via Onwine comes directly from the winery. All wineries pack the bottles themselves and hand them over to our shipping partner. Onwine works with boxes the size of 6 or 12 bottles.
To guarantee safe delivery, it is therefore also a requirement that orders are always made in multiples of 6 bottles.
The following shipping costs apply:
6 bottles at the same winery: €6,-
12+ bottles at the same winery: No shipping costs
You can order from several wineries at the same time. The above shipping costs apply to each individual winery.
