This Torrette is an accessible but characterful mountain wine, sourced from vineyards around Saint-Pierre located at 700 to 800 metres altitude. The southeast exposure ensures plenty of sunshine, while the altitude retains freshness and tension. The grapes are harvested in late September, followed by slow fermentation and malolactic fermentation. The blend of mainly Petit Rouge with a small proportion of Mayolet perfectly captures the balance of fruit, spiciness and elegance so typical of the Valle d'Aosta.
The wine matures mainly in stainless steel tanks, with a small proportion resting briefly in oak for extra roundness. In the glass, it shows an intense red colour with aromas of blackberries and plums. The palate is supple and slightly tannic, with a fresh structure and spicy undertones that linger for a long time. As the wine continues to develop in bottle, softer notes of ripe fruit become increasingly prominent.
Versatile at the table, this Torrette is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 18 to 20 degrees. It pairs effortlessly with red meat and game, but is also excellent with mature cheeses. With an annual production of around 10,000 bottles, this is an authentic and honest expression of mountain winemaking, made for both weekday enjoyment and gourmet moments.
