The Torrette Supérieur is a wine that makes the mountainous landscape of the Valle d'Aosta palpable in every sip. Made from 100% Petit Rouge, the grapes grow on steep, southeast-facing slopes in Saint-Pierre, at an altitude of 700 to 750 metres. After harvest in October, only the best bunches are selected and lightly dried in small crates, allowing the flavours to deepen before a slow maceration on the skins. The result is a wine that effortlessly combines power and elegance, shaped by sunshine, altitude and sandy soils.
In the cellar, the Torrette Supérieur is given the time it deserves. After alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel and malolactic fermentation in large vats, the wine matures in wood for about 10 months. That ageing produces an intense red colour and a refined aromatic profile with blackberries and ripe plums, subtly supported by soft, integrated wood. The palate is full but balanced, with freshness and structure giving the wine tension and a long, elegant finish that only gets softer with age.
Served at 18 to 20 degrees, this wine comes fully to life. It feels particularly good alongside red meat or game, but also pairs beautifully with mature cheeses or a classic pâté. With a limited production of about 3,000 bottles a year, the Torrette Supérieur is an authentic mountain wine with character, which continues to surprise both now and after some aging.
