This Spätburgunder Mühlhofen Ortswein 2023 from Weingut Bietighöfer is an elegant and convincing Pinot Noir from the Palatinate, sourced from selected vineyards around Mühlhofen. The wine shows perfectly how freshness and structure can reinforce each other. It is harvested by hand, carefully processed and raised in barriques used several times, keeping refinement and provenance central.
On the nose, the wine is bright and inviting, with aromas of juicy berries, red fruit and a fine spiciness. Subtle toasty notes from the wood add depth without dominating. A cool, salty minerality appears in the background, giving the wine tension and precision and underlining its provenance.
On the palate, this Spätburgunder is powerful yet refined. The texture is elegant, with fresh acids, fine tannins and a distinct minerality that keeps the wine light-footed. The finish is long, cool and clean, with plenty of finesse and drinking flow. A wine that both charms now and is excellent at the table with refined dishes.
