Pietramora is the iconic top cuvée of Fattoria Zerbina and is considered one of Romagna's reference wines. This Riserva comes from old alberello vines on calcareous, clayey soils around Marzeno, where low yields ensure concentration and depth. Vinification is partly in stainless steel and partly in French oak, followed by prolonged ageing in tonneaux. This creates a Sangiovese with power as well as precision, where terroir and craftsmanship come together.
In the glass, Pietramora 2019 shows a deep, layered expression: ripe cherries and dark berries are supported by spicy notes and subtle wood nuances. On the palate, the wine is muscular but refined, with lively acidity balancing the concentration. The tannins are powerful but finely honed, providing length and storage potential. This is a wine that impresses now, but develops even more depth and complexity with ageing.
At the table, Pietramora comes into its own with game, slow-cooked beef or lamb, and rich stews. This Riserva also shows its class with firm, matured cheeses. A wine for moments when you take your time and want to taste the depth of Romagna.
