Leo Aumann's Badener Berg 2022 comes from a high-altitude vineyard about 300 metres above sea level, with views towards Vienna. This special location, combined with sandy loam soils, creates a wine with power, concentration and impressive ageing potential. Only in the best years is this cuvée produced, which is all about quality and precision.
The blend of 50% St Laurent and 50% Merlot is aged for no less than 30 months in new French oak barrels after careful selection. This gives the wine its deep, dark colour and complex aromatics. In the nose, notes of dark chocolate, dark fruit and subtle wood influences emerge, which develop further on the palate into a rich and layered taste experience.
The structure is powerful but refined, with well-integrated tannins and a long, intense finish that brings together nuances of nougat and ripe fruit. This is a wine with enormous depth and storage potential, which will continue to unfold with age.
