Bodega Bravo Escos' Les Camades 2021 is a classic and deeply rooted expression of Priorat, from old vineyards around Torroja del Priorat. The name refers to several plots with older vines, where the combination of shale, clay-limestone and alluvial soils creates a wine with power, finesse and distinct terroir character.
The grapes are grown according to sustainable principles, with ongoing conversion to organic certification. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation in small tanks is chosen, followed by a longer maceration of eight to 14 days. Maturation takes place in a unique combination of terracotta amphorae and French oak barrels, giving the wine purity as well as complexity and structure.
In the glass, Les Camades shows a deep cherry red colour with subtle bluish reflections. The aroma opens with notes of black and red fruits such as blackberries, wild strawberries and plums, complemented by floral and spicy accents of lavender, rosemary and thyme. On the palate, the wine is full and juicy, with ripe tannins and a nice balance between freshness and warmth. The long finish is carried by a mineral core typical of Priorat, and makes this wine both powerful and elegant.
