The Il Picchio Pecorino is an elegant and characterful white wine from the Falerio wine region in Marche, made from 100% Pecorino. This particular grape variety has made a strong comeback in recent years thanks to its aromatic richness, lively freshness and excellent gastronomic use. Originating from the hills near the Adriatic Sea, this wine combines the sun-kissed power of central Italy with a striking finesse. Moreover, the wine is produced organically and is completely vegan.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright straw yellow colour. The bouquet opens with aromas of white peach, green apple, citrus fruit, currants and ripe pear, supported by delicate mineral notes. The palate is fresh and juicy, with lively acidity and a nice balance between fruitiness and elegance. A subtle touch of grapefruit bitterness in the finish adds extra tension and makes for a long, refined finish. The result is a wine that is both accessible and surprisingly complex.
This versatile Pecorino pairs excellently with fish dishes, poultry, white meat, pasta and creamy risottos. It also makes an excellent partner for salads, goat's cheese and young cheeses.
