The Kreuznach Junker Spätburgunder 2020 from Weingut Johanninger is an elegant and characterful Pinot Noir from the Nahe region. The grapes grow on calcareous clay-marl soils along the lower reaches of the Nahe, where the combination of minerality, structure and finesse produces wines with a distinct terroir character. This vineyard, Kreuznacher Junker, is renowned for its ability to produce powerful yet refined Spätburgunders that age exceptionally well.
After careful manual selection, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation on the skins. The wine is then gently pressed and further matured in barriques, which adds extra complexity and depth to its character. In the glass, it presents a ripe and refined style, combining red fruit, subtle spice and light oak notes. The structure is clear and balanced, with a classic dry flavour and a pleasant elegance typical of high-quality German Spätburgunder.
