Chardonnay found its way to Friuli between the 1960s and 1970s and soon proved to thrive on the ponca soils of the Colli Orientali. The oldest vines at Ronchi di Manzano date from that period, giving the vineyards an average age of 40 years. This age translates directly into concentration and depth, without any loss of freshness.
After harvest, the grapes undergo overnight cryomaceration at temperatures close to 0°C, after which the wine ferments and matures in stainless steel for six months. Following bottling, the wine is left to rest in the bottle for a further few months before release. In the glass, it is clear and a deep straw yellow. The aroma is intense and floral, with fruity notes of Golden Delicious apple and a bready finish. On the palate, it is dry, smooth, fresh and savoury, with hints of vanilla and excellent balance.
A versatile wine that pairs excellently with starters, cooked hams, cheeses, risottos and dishes based on white meat or fish. Serve at 10–12°C.
