12 and 13 December: the ONWINE Winemakers’ Festival. Winemakers from all ONWINE countries are coming to the Netherlands to let you taste their best wines.
The King Trocken 2023 is an expressive white wine made from 100% Kerner grapes, sourced from old vines aged between 25 and 40 years old that are deeply rooted in the rich Stubensandstein soil. The grapes were carefully gently pressed for six hours and then spontaneously fermented for fifteen months in 500-liter tonneaux barrels. This careful process results in a wine with depth, balance, and character, beautifully combining terroir and craftsmanship.
In the glass, the wine displays a regal bouquet of exotic fruit, with aromas of pineapple and ripe mango that immediately tantalize the senses. The structure is full and powerful, yet remains elegant thanks to the refined acidity that provides a lively freshness. The subtle use of wood adds complexity and roundness without overpowering the fruit, resulting in a harmonious and layered wine experience.
The King Trocken 2023 is an excellent accompaniment to refined dishes. It is particularly well suited to Asian dishes with coconut and ginger, creamy curry dishes, poultry, or light veal dishes. Its tropical character also comes through beautifully with ripe goat cheese or a salad with mango and chicken. Serve this wine slightly chilled to allow its full aromas to come into their own.
