Marius is a wine with a soul. It bears the name of a man who was born in a simple Pyrenean mountain village, dreamed of a future as a school teacher and eventually found his vocation among the vines. This wine embodies the serenity and dignity of a time when Bordeaux was known for its understated drinkability. It speaks the language of the land, with a classic elegance reminiscent of old vintages, fragrant like dried roses and deeply intertwined with the flavours of real-life dishes such as entrecote grilled over vines.
At the heart of Lalande-de-Pomerol, Merlot grapes find their strength in gravel and sandy soils that give structure, finesse and tension. The vineyard has worked for decades without herbicides and without chemical fertilisers, true to a philosophy in which respect for the earth is central. This vision fits flawlessly with organic certification (2021) and the biodynamic principles being applied today. Fermentation takes place naturally, extraction is by gentle infusion and ageing takes place in concrete cuves, leaving the pure fruit and terroir undistorted.
Marius is an authentically preservative Lalande-de-Pomerol, released at the ideal time after 18 months of ageing and several years of rest in the cellar. It now shows a harmony of ripe Merlot, soft tannins and refined depth. This wine comes beautifully with classic dishes such as entrecote, slow-cooked lamb or a creamy mushroom risotto, where its earthy elegance fully blossoms.
