Maison Philippe Grisard's Opulent is a characterful white wine from Savoie, made from 100% Roussanne, sourced from chalky, stony slopes. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully vinified in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by an eight-month ageing on tank. This creates a wine that is both pure and expressive, with a nice balance between richness and freshness.
In the glass, the wine shows a full and round profile, with ripe aromas of apricot and yellow stone fruit, complemented by subtle tension and a slight, refined bitterness in the finish. The style is direct and honest, with the fruit taking centre stage, but with enough structure to remain interesting.
This wine is ideal as an aperitif, but also goes well with freshwater fish dishes, light dishes or sophisticated cuisine. Serve at 12-14°C.
