'Praie' Barbera Colli Tortonesi DOC is an authentic and expressive red wine, made from 100% Barbera sourced from selected vineyards around the village of Casasco, on east- to south-west facing slopes between 250 and 300 metres altitude. The 40-year-old vines are planted on marble- and clayey soil, which contributes to the structure and freshness of this characterful wine.
After the manual harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and undergo a classic 8-10-day fermentation in large vats. Further ageing is done using traditional methods, after which the wine rests for another 12 months in bottle to achieve its balance and refinement. In the glass, the Barbera shows a bright ruby colour with deep intensity. The nose is open and persistent, with fresh notes of strawberry and small red fruits. On the palate, it is supple, harmonious and nicely rounded, with hints of strawberry jam adding softness and elegance.
'Praie' is an accessible and lively wine with a pure grape character that pairs perfectly with fine meats, charcuterie and other savoury starters. An honest Barbera with a distinctly local soul.
