Lichti & Astroh's Rot Cuvée 2022 is a playful, elegant red wine from the white label base segment, made from 58% St Laurent and 42% Portugieser. Grown on a combination of buntsandstein and limestone, the grapes were spontaneously fermented in small used oak barrels. Bottled without filtration, the wine retains its pure character and soft structure.
Floral notes emerge on the nose, accompanied by hints of nuts, tobacco and ethereal spices. The nose is reminiscent of pickled berries, with subtle touches of iodine, cinnamon and a hint of pepper. On the palate, the wine is slim, juicy and warm-fruited, with nuances of leather, mint, chocolate and a hint of meat gravy. The tannins are mild and the finish is supple and accessible, with a pleasant length.
