Akra Mira is an elegant and lively brut rosé sparkling wine from Akra Vini di Calabria, made from Aglianico and Magliocco grapes grown in the deep brown-red soils of the Tenuta Santa Venere. The grapes are harvested by hand in September, after which the whole grapes are placed in a pneumatic press and only the free-run must is used for the sparkling wine production. Fermentation takes place at a low temperature in a 50-hectolitre autoclave, followed by a slow secondary fermentation lasting approximately 90 days, resulting in a fine, persistent perlage and an elegant brut style.
In the glass, the Mira displays a radiant coral-pink colour with soft purple reflections and a fine, persistent effervescence. The nose is refined and expressive, with elegant notes of red berries, rose petals and carob. On the palate, the wine is fresh and harmonious, with a lively acidity that emphasises the drinkability and versatility of this spumante. Three months’ ageing on the lees adds extra depth and finesse.
