    Product description

    'Brando' Colli Tortonesi DOC Monleale is made from 100% Barbera, from the hills of Montemarzino in Piedmont. The vineyards are at 400 metres altitude and benefit from a south-easterly exposure and clay-limestone soils with marl. The grapes are harvested by hand in late September and undergo a 10-day maceration with the skins, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at ambient temperature, with regular remontages to best extract colour and tannins. After vinification, the wine matures for 20 months in 225-litre French oak barriques, and then rests in bottle for at least six months before going on sale. A screw cap guarantees freshness and storage potential.

    In the glass, 'Brando' shows a deep ruby red colour with purple reflections. The nose is intense, with aromas of ripe red fruit, light spices and subtle notes of toasted oak, complemented by nuances of vanilla and chocolate that blend nicely with the fruitiness. On the palate, the wine is full and structured, with lively acidity, silky tannins and flavours of dark berries, black cherries and a hint of liquorice. Ageing in oak creates an elegant toasted and smoky finish that adds depth and complexity.

    With an alcohol content of 15% and acidity of 7.3 g/L, this powerful yet refined Barbera has a storage potential of eight to 12 years. 'Brando' is a perfect companion to grilled meats, steaks, roast or braised lamb, mature hard cheeses such as Parmigiano-Reggiano, and mushroom dishes such as risottos. For the best experience, we recommend serving the wine at 16-18°C in a large wine glass.
